KleerCard accounts are issued to U.S.-registered organizations, not to consumers. This page outlines who can apply, what the application asks for, when the personal guarantee is waived, and which uses are not allowed.
The Customer Agreement is the controlling document. If this page and the agreement ever differ, the agreement wins.
To apply for a KleerCard account, the organization must be organized and registered in the United States. Examples: C-corporations, S-corporations, LLCs, and LLPs.
Churches, independent schools, and 501(c)(3) nonprofits apply the same way: as the registered U.S. entity. A pastor, treasurer, or board member cannot open the account in a personal capacity.
KleerCard does not publish a minimum cash balance or a minimum revenue figure. Actual or anticipated revenue may still be requested as application data.
These applicants are not permitted to open or use a KleerCard account:
An unincorporated church plant, a ministry that has not formed a U.S. entity, or a person applying in their own name does not meet the entity test. Form the organization first, then apply.
The personal guarantee is waived when the organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The waiver applies to the person or people submitting the application for that registered 501(c)(3).
If the organization is not a registered 501(c)(3), do not assume the personal guarantee waiver applies. That includes a for-profit company, another 501(c) type, and a church that has not registered as a 501(c)(3). In these cases, the Customer Agreement includes a personal guarantee from the company’s beneficial owner or owners for credit extended to the company. If the company fails to pay amounts owed, KleerCard may collect from the guarantor. Confirm with KleerCard before accepting a credit line.
KleerCard underwrites the organization using Company Data and Personal Data. It does not check personal credit, and accordingly there is no published personal-credit-score minimum.
Federal law requires financial institutions to identify everyone who opens an account. KleerCard and the issuer use the information below to review the application.
You will need to provide Company Data, certain Personal Data, and at least one Linked Account.
Company Data may include:
Personal Data may include name, contact information, and date of birth for users or beneficial owners.
Documents that may be requested:
Name at least one Administrator when you apply. That person is authorized to manage the account, add users, request cards, and accept the Customer Agreement for the organization.
Keep Company Data and each user’s Personal Data current after you apply. Incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated information can delay review or lead KleerCard to deny, suspend, or close the account.
Start the application at sign-up.
KleerCard shares Company Data and Personal Data with the issuer and other service providers to decide eligibility. The possible outcomes are approval, denial, or provisional access while additional review is underway.
Identity checks are part of that review. If more verification is needed, you may be asked for additional documents.
Spending limits, when credit is offered, are set from Company Data. Limits are dynamic and may change with or without notice, including a temporary reduction to $0.
You must keep at least one Linked Account connected.
Cards are issued by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. on the Visa Commercial network.
Typical review is one to two business days. Complex files, missing documents, or extra identity checks take longer.
Credit is not automatic. Newer organizations and organizations with limited operating history may not receive a weekly credit line.
The Free plan spends against a balance held on deposit in the KleerCard Wallet. Paid plans may include a weekly credit line when approved. Current plan details live on pricing.
A practical operating note: KleerCard is built for teams that will issue several cards. A one- or two-person shop is usually better served by a basic bank business card.
A KleerCard account, the services, and the cards may be used only for the company’s bona fide business or organizational purposes.
They may not be used for:
KleerCard will not approve, and may close, accounts it knows or believes are engaged in activities on the Prohibited Activities List. Some restricted activities require extra information before an account can open or stay open. The current merchant-category blocks are listed on the Prohibited Use Policy.
U.S.-organized and registered companies qualify to apply, including C-corps, S-corps, LLCs, LLPs, and registered nonprofit corporations such as churches, schools, and 501(c)(3) organizations. Consumers, sole proprietors, unincorporated partnerships, and companies registered outside the United States cannot apply.
As stated in the Customer Agreement, KleerCard waives the personal guarantee when the company or organization is a registered 501(c)(3). Organizations that are not registered 501(c)(3)s should not assume the waiver applies and should confirm their status in writing before accepting a credit line.
Yes, if the church, school, or nonprofit is organized and registered in the United States as a company. A registered 501(c)(3) also receives the personal-guarantee waiver. A church without 501(c)(3) registration should confirm the guarantee question with KleerCard before applying for credit.
No published cash-balance or revenue minimum exists for KleerCard. The application may still ask for actual or anticipated revenue and will require a linked U.S. account.
Applicants provide Company Data that identifies the registered U.S. entity, including formation details such as an EIN letter or corporate registration certificate. Have those records ready before you start.
No. Sole proprietors, consumers, and unincorporated partnerships are not permitted to open a KleerCard account. Incorporate or otherwise register the organization in the United States first.
No. KleerCard and the issuer review Company Data and Personal Data to decide eligibility. It does not check personal credit, and accordingly there is no published personal-credit-score minimum. Identity details for an administrator or beneficial owner are still required.
Plan on an EIN or formation record, a linked U.S. bank or credit-union account, and identification for at least one administrator or beneficial owner. KleerCard may also request a corporate registration certificate, proof of address, and other documents needed to verify the company.
Many organizations hear back in one to two business days after a short online application. Missing documents, extra identity checks, or a more complex file can extend that window. Provisional access is sometimes granted while review continues.
Organizations that are not approved for credit can still use the Free plan by holding a spending limit on deposit in the KleerCard Wallet. Ask KleerCard which path applies to the application.
If the organization is a U.S.-registered company and you can provide the company, identity, and bank information above, you can start an application. Read the Customer Agreement before you submit it.
