KleerCard is a Visa Commercial card plus spend software, issued to the church itself, that codes each charge to a fund and syncs it into church accounting software. America's Christian Credit Union (ACCU) offers the Visa Ministry Rewards card, a no-annual-fee credit union card that earns 5 points per dollar on charitable giving, 3 on qualifying travel and hotels, and 1.5 on everyday purchases.

The biggest practical difference is membership. ACCU asks your organization to join the credit union before the card is issued, while KleerCard works with whatever bank you already use. ACCU's points look strong on paper, but for most churches the bigger savings come from giving every volunteer and staff member their own controlled card, so nobody shares a card and nobody chases receipts.

ACCU figures below come from ACCU's Visa Ministry Rewards page and organization rates page as of October 2026. Terms can change, so check the current application before your board signs.

What is ACCU's Visa Ministry Rewards card?

America's Christian Credit Union is a member-owned credit union based in Glendora, California, with more than 82,000 members and NCUA-insured deposits. Its Visa Ministry Rewards card is a revolving line of credit for churches and ministries, with a set limit and a 12.90% APR on ACCU's organization rates page. The organization can use it for purchases, bills, and cash withdrawals.

Rewards run through CURewards and can be redeemed for cash back, gift cards, travel, and merchandise, starting at 2,500 points. ACCU charges no annual fee and lets you add employee cards at no additional cost. Card administrators manage the program in Visa 360, where they can create and close cards, change limits, scan receipts, and pull merchant reports.

ACCU is also a full credit union. Ministry checking, savings, and church loans are a separate decision from the card, and some churches value having all of that with one Christian lender.

For a deeper look at the card on its own, read our full ACCU Visa Ministry Rewards review.

What is KleerCard?

KleerCard is a church credit card and expense platform, on the Visa Commercial network, built for churches, schools, and nonprofits. The Bancorp Bank, N.A. issues the account to the organization, so no pastor or treasurer opens it in their own name.

Every plan includes unlimited physical and virtual cards. Each person gets their own card and their own budget, receipts are uploaded by photo at the point of purchase, and charges flow into the accounting system you already run. We charge no per-user fee and no platform fee.

KleerCard works alongside your bank. Your checking, savings, and any church loan stay where they are, and the card links to the account you choose.

How do rewards and fees compare?

ACCU's rewards look like the stronger offer on paper. You earn 5 points per dollar on charitable giving, 3 on qualifying travel and hotel purchases, and 1.5 on everything else. New accounts can earn up to 32,500 bonus points: 30,000 for spending $3,500 in the first 3 months, plus 2,500 on the first purchase. ACCU notes that bonus terms can change without notice.

KleerCard's card has no annual fee either. Software is Free if you hold your spending limit on deposit in the KleerCard Wallet, Standard is $29 a month for up to 15 users, and Pro is $49 a month for up to 30. Standard and Pro include a weekly credit line, and Custom pricing covers teams above 30 users.

We do offer cash back, but only on custom pricing for larger customers, usually around $30,000 a month in card spend. Below that, the plans focus on controls and sync instead.

I don't push rewards harder for a simple reason. Cash back at a nonprofit can't benefit one person, so someone has to decide whether it lands in missions, the building fund, or the general fund. For a lot of churches, that bookkeeping costs more attention than the rewards are worth.

Points are easy to compare, and time is harder to see. When volunteers share one card, or finance spends hours each month chasing receipts and recoding charges, those hours usually cost a church more than the points earn. That's why we put our effort into unlimited cards and controls instead.

KleerCard software pricing per month: Free with the limit held on deposit, Standard $29 for up to 15 users, and Pro $49 for up to 30 users, with a $0 annual fee on both cards

‍

How do spend controls and receipts compare?

With ACCU, you can issue multiple cards under one approved line of credit and set individual card limits in Visa 360. Cardholders can capture receipt images, add mileage or out-of-pocket expenses, and set email alerts. Administrators get daily views of spending, merchant reports, and access levels from cardholder to reports-only viewer.

KleerCard starts from a different idea of control. I'd rather give every spender their own card with a right-sized budget than leave one high-limit card in a desk drawer, because then finance can trace every charge to one named person.

You can limit a card by amount, merchant category, and time window, start a card at $0 so it only works after a funding request, and, on Pro, lock cards automatically when receipts are missing. One of my favorite examples is a card that only works at gas pumps, kept on the key ring for the church van.

Virtual cards help with one-off spending, too. A single-use card for a retreat deposit, or a card that stops working after the mission trip ends, means nobody has to share a number.

KleerCard card controls: limits by amount, merchant category, and time window, $0 cards until a funding request, receipt locks on Pro, and single-use virtual cards, compared with ACCU's individual card limits in Visa 360

‍

How do charges reach your church accounting software?

ACCU describes Visa 360 as able to integrate with your current financial systems, with daily, weekly, or monthly reports on cost allocation and merchant activity. If your bookkeeper is comfortable working from those reports and a monthly statement, that's a familiar rhythm.

KleerCard connects directly to Aplos, Realm, Shelby, ACS Technologies, ParishSOFT, Blackbaud, and QuickBooks. A charge can carry its fund and receipt when it posts, so nobody re-keys the fund after the statement lands.

One executive pastor told us month-end close dropped from three days to about seven minutes after sync replaced manual entry, and an HR and finance director cut receipt collection from roughly 40 hours a month to 1 hour in the first month.

We're also building KleerFi Accounting, a fund accounting ledger designed specifically for nonprofits and churches. It's in its waitlist stage, so if you'd like to follow along, you're welcome to join the KleerFi Accounting waitlist.

Who can apply for each card?

ACCU is member-owned. You don't need personal membership to start the ministry card application, but your organization has to qualify for and complete membership to finish it. Organization membership is open to churches, ministries, and schools aligned with ACCU's Wesleyan statement of faith (see ACCU's membership page), and the application asks for your EIN, formation documents, and board minutes or a letter naming approved signers.

Non-denominational and independent churches also submit their own statement of faith. ACCU says it has opened organizational memberships in as little as 24 hours. Sole proprietors and independent contractors apply with personal membership.

KleerCard accounts are opened by the organization, never by a person. Churches don't need to be incorporated, but they do need their own EIN. The personal guarantee is waived for recognized religious institutions, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and public school districts (full rules on our eligibility page), and there's no minimum cash balance or revenue figure.

Sole proprietors can't open a KleerCard account. If a personal guarantee is the deciding issue, our guide to credit cards for nonprofits with no personal guarantee covers more options.

Eligibility comparison: ACCU requires organization membership to finish the application, while KleerCard needs only the church's own EIN with no incorporation or membership; sole proprietors can use ACCU with personal membership but are not eligible for KleerCard

‍

When is ACCU's card the better fit?

ACCU's Visa Ministry Rewards card can be a good match when most of these sound like your church:

  • You already bank with ACCU, or want checking, savings, and lending with one Christian credit union.
  • You value earning points on giving, travel, and everyday spending.
  • A few staff cardholders with individual limits cover how your church spends.
  • Your bookkeeper is happy working from statements and Visa 360 reports.

A small church with two office cards and a treasurer who reconciles once a month will often be well served by ACCU. If you're also weighing another Christian credit union, our KleerCard vs AdelFi comparison covers that card. ‍

When is KleerCard the better fit?

KleerCard tends to fit most churches, especially when:

  • Volunteers, trip leaders, or ministry heads need their own cards with tight limits, and you'd rather issue as many cards as you need than share one.
  • You run Aplos, Realm, Shelby, ACS, ParishSOFT, or Blackbaud and want charges coded before close.
  • Your church doesn't want to join a credit union to get a card.
  • Receipts and recoding are eating hours every month, and that time matters more to you than points.

You can also do both. Every KleerCard account links to a bank account you already have, so your bank and lender stay where they are. You can see how KleerCard works for churches.
